Access: The Supplementary Index to Periodicals supplements the Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature published by the H. W. Wilson Company. The Readers' Guide is the standard periodical index of popular periodicals and it should be consulted first in the research of popular periodicals. The national newsweeklys of the United States and Canada are indexed there and contribute in large measure to the comprehensiveness of the Readers' Guide indexing.

Since Access' founding in 1975, our editorial policy has been not to duplicate any of the indexing found in the Readers' Guide. As a result, you may research popular periodicals in both the Readers' Guide and Access without any duplication of research effort.

In recent years, a number of the periodicals first indexed by Access have been added to the general indexes that are also published by the H. W. Wilson Company. These indexes are available in most libraries and are also now accessible on the internet via the WilsonWeb. Because Access has moved to internet as well as print publication, we have removed these periodicals from our indexing so that new unindexed periodicals can be added to our indexing program.

Below is a list of periodicals indexed in Access. When abbreviations are used in Access to identify periodicals, the abbreviation follows the name of the periodical. Access volume years correspond to the calendar school year which runs from September to October. The volume year of Access' first indexing is also noted for periodicals currently being published and indexed.

* represents titles deleted from Access upon being voted into the Readers' Guide to Periodical Literature and/or currently being indexed by the general indexes of the H. W. Wilson Company and accessible via the WilsonWeb. The index which indexes the periodical, if not the Readers' Guide, is identified along with the inclusive years of Access indexing coverage by volume year if the periodical is present in this database.
